Former Commissioner of Education for New York State and Superintendent of the Hillsborough County (Tampa) Florida School District, the seventh largest school district in the U.S. In these capacities, Ms. Elia had oversight in excess of 2,600,000 and 200,000 students respectively. She began her career as a classroom teacher and has extensive experience in academics, operations and managing complex systems.
